Welcome to Ask Pastor Pete!!

Welcome to my little corner of the web. This page has been constructed for anyone who has a question about God or religion to freely ask it anonymously without fear of criticism.

I will make every attempt to answer every single question that comes my way! Or I`ll steer you to where you might find the answer.

Thanks,

Question #1: Pastor Pete,

Why don`t you post your Sunday sermons on the Anchor webpage? If you did then people in oh, say....Florida, could listen to them.

Pastor Pete: Done. Thanks for the encouragement to get this feature up and running. Although sermons aren`t available on our site, we are now posting sermons at Sermonaudio.com. You`ll find some recent sermons, along with other Reformed Presbyterian preachers, at Reformed Voice, a subsection of sermonaudio. I hope you and others will be blessed.

Question #2: I looked on presbyterian websites for Waldorf and discovered that there are 2 reformed bodies, your church and Christ Covenant, PCA. I would think that by merging you would have a stronger influence and witness in the community?

Thanks

Pastor Pete: I smiled when I saw this question for we at Anchor have discussed this very idea. We are saddened that denominational differences exist. Factions and divisions mar the body of Christ and stand in the face of Jesus’ own prayer that we as his disciples might be one as he and the Father are one. So we have looked into this possibility, especially since both of our bodies are quite small.

For reasons I am not going to list here we decided that a joining and receiving would not be prudent at this time. We sought counsel from our presbytery, the Presbytery of the Alleghenies, and we sought counsel from members of the Potomac Presbytery of the PCA. The advice and counsel we received was unanimous. Neither presbytery thought this was a good idea, and that counsel was confirmed by my own interactions locally.

Even though we have decided against a merger, we continue to pray and labor for the visible unity of Christ’s church, and we happily continue to have contact with members of Christ Covenant. We desire their prosperity as they desire ours.
